Public interface prototype using fictional sample products. Amazon API integration is pending written approval. Data promise
For customers and API reviewers

A clear boundary around
every product fact.

This page explains the current prototype state and the intended production behavior before any Amazon product content is integrated.

Current state: this site uses fictional products, original SVG illustrations and illustrative values. It makes no live Amazon API calls and contains no active affiliate links.
Production proposal

Retrieve, preserve, explain, refresh.

If approved, SpecMeter intends to retrieve only permitted API resources, keep a traceable field record and display them through deterministic comparison components.

Permitted API resources onlyNo product-page scraping or third-party product specification feeds.
Field-level traceabilityProduct identifier, resource, source value, unit, retrieval time and rule version.
Freshness-aware displayTime-sensitive modules are designed to expire, refresh or disappear according to applicable requirements.
Direct product destinationsApproved product content and purchase actions are intended to link to the relevant Amazon detail page.
Proposed data flow

A small number of auditable steps.

01

Retrieve

Request an approved resource for an exact product identifier and marketplace. Record the retrieval time and response context.

02

Normalize

Map only equivalent fields into a category schema. Convert units through documented code and preserve the original value.

03

Present

Show exact values, neutral differences, source labels, freshness context and a clearly identified purchase destination.

What SpecMeter proposes to do

Use product data to improve purchase comprehension

  • Display two relevant products side by side within the same category.
  • Convert equivalent physical units with reversible deterministic rules.
  • Calculate transparent numerical differences such as lighter, larger or lower listed price.
  • Display visual bars while keeping the exact source-derived value beside each bar.
  • Let customers weight named priorities using only eligible comparable numeric fields.
  • Show explicit missing-data and data-coverage states.
What SpecMeter will not do

Protect the boundary rather than fill every gap

  • Scrape Amazon storefront or product-detail pages.
  • Copy or paraphrase Amazon customer reviews.
  • Create price history, price alerts or unsupported time-series claims.
  • Invent absent specifications or borrow values from an unverified sibling variant.
  • Turn megapixels, wattage, driver size or other proxies into unsupported quality claims.
  • Use Amazon product content to train or improve a machine-learning model.
  • Imply Amazon sponsorship, endorsement or approval.
Factual language

Describe the field, not an outcome the field cannot prove

Preferred wording includes "Amazon lists," "higher listed capacity," "lower current listed price" and "not supplied through the API." The system is designed to avoid statements such as "better camera," "longer real-world battery life" or "more durable" when those outcomes are not present in the permitted field.

Approval gate

No live integration before permission

SpecMeter will keep this fictional-data prototype in demo mode until the relevant Amazon marketplace confirms the proposed aggregation, unit normalization, difference calculation, meter display and caching behavior in writing. Configuration flags keep affiliate links and live product content disabled by default.
